Signs You May Have Tennis Elbow in Tacoma
Are you experiencing pain in your wrist, arm or elbow? If so, you may be suffering from tennis elbow in Tacoma. Here at Proctor Chiropractic, we want to educate our patients on the pain they may be experiencing and the conditions they may have. Here is some information you may want to know about tennis elbow.
What is Tennis Elbow?
Tennis elbow is the more common term for a condition called lateral epicondylitis. While you may think that you can only get the condition playing tennis, this is incorrect. The condition affects far more than tennis players. The condition is caused due to repetitively extended and swinging the arm. This constant motion can cause tears, strain and stress on the flexor muscles, causing the pain you may experience.
What Are the Signs of Tennis Elbow?
There are different symptoms associated with tennis elbow based on how severe your condition is. For many people, tennis elbow starts out as an ache on the inside of the elbow. It will be painful to move and can be painful to the touch. From there, it can progress into stiffness or tightness, shooting pain or the area may become swollen. The longer the condition is left untreated, the more severe the symptoms can become. Those with severe tennis elbow may be unable to move their arm easily or bend it at the elbow.
How can a Chiropractor Help With Tennis Elbow?
Chiropractic adjustments and manipulations can help to reduce pressure off of the nerve and muscles in the arm, reducing the tightness and pain you feel. Strengthening exercises can also be done to help strengthen the muscles back up, which in turn, helps you to fully heal and recover from the injury with no loss of motion or atrophy.
